Roast slowly to make your own healthy lard. You can freeze in small containers for pie and pasty crusts. About 2 pounds per package. Or you may buy already rendered leaf lard $10per pint. I also have regular lard available in quart jars and it is perfect for deep frying and baking cookies and cakes - save the leaf lard for the pastries.
